Based on the real life story, The Haunting in Connecticut is a unique horror flick, which successfully keeps the audience trapped. The whole concept of the movie is directed differently, unlike any other horror movie. The story is original, grabbing, creepy and thrilling.
Revolving around supernatural and paranormal incidents, the story is taken from the real life of a family in Southington.
The story starts when Virginia Madsen and Martin Donovan move with their ill son to an old Victorian house. Their son, Matt Campbell, played by Kyle Gallner, is suffering from cancer. He is undergoing cancer treatment in a nearby hospital. For the convenience of their son, they rent this place at a very cheap price.
During their stay at the haunted house, Matt sees visions of a teenage boy. Initially Matt ignores these visions, considering them a part of his illness. But later the whole house comes under the effect of strange paranormal incidents. Creepy noises, disturbances and troublesome incidents scares the family.
To add to their troubles, the family finds out that their rented house is an old funeral place. This place has not been able to escape its past. Then comes series of creepy frames in the movie directed to perfection.
The script of the movie is very strong in keeping the audience absorbed. Let’s not forget the role of the sick priest, which has a powerful impact in the movie. Though the movie can get hilarious in places, overall the movie is a must watch.
Kyle Gallner has done a fantastic job, and needs a thumbs up. Other actors including Virginia Madsen ( as mother of Matt) and Martin Donovan (as the father of Matt) also give great performances.
